Jazz Studies Curriculum
About the major: The concentration in jazz studies combines the study of jazz performance with jazz arranging and composition, providing a well-rounded understanding of the jazz idiom as a performer and composer/arranger.
Career opportunities: Students who pursue a major in music with a concentration in jazz studies may be preparing for careers as performing/touring artists, session musicians, arranger/orchestrator or a member of a professional ensemble. Additional study at the graduate level is usually required to teach on the collegiate level.
