University Orchestra Welcomes Non-Music Majors

University Orchestra Welcomes Non-Music Majors!

The University Orchestra invites students who play an orchestral instrument to join. A simple audition is required to demonstrate appropriate skills. Choose a piece that you feel comfortable playing, record it, and send it to the orchestra director.

As soon as the University allows in person meetings, we will begin rehearsals in OLD MAIN. Until then the conductor will coach members individually online.

Our University Orchestra was recently declared third place winner in the American Prize (College/University division) in recognition of the quality of our recorded performances, and Finalist for the performance of American Music. The submitted recordings were from live concerts right before the pandemic. (The American Prize is a National Nonprofit organization that administers Competitions in the Performing Arts).

Repertory for the W22 semester includes Haydn's Symphony No. 102, Ravel's Mother Goose Suite, and Rossini's Overture to the Italian in Algiers. If you wish additional information, contact the conductor directly.
