CONCERTO COMPETITION 2024

Date: November 28, 2023

Time: 2:00pm

Venue: Schaver Music Recital Hall

Sign up: Available here soon!

Guidelines:

1) You must be a music major and have your private instructor's permission.

2) Accompaniment is strongly recommended and is the responsibility of the performer.

3) It is the prerogative of your private instructor as to whether, or not, to require you to have your selection memorized. Please discuss this with your private teacher immediately.

4) Appropriate concert dress is expected at the audition.

5) Each student will be given a 10" time slot. However, you may perform works longer than 10" allotted. Just be expected to be asked to jump ahead, or be asked to stop once your time comes to an end.

6) Pick appropriate music. This includes understanding the many demands an orchestra sometimes faces when programming any concert. Challenging contemporary works, obscure works that may be difficult to secure parts for, works for an exceedingly large orchestra may not be appropriate to the ensemble, or provide you with the most satisfying musical experience. For this reason, if you have any doubts, please contact Professor Markou and he will be happy to advise you in this matter.

Winners will be the featured soloists with the Orchestra at the February 2024 Concert.
