Concert Band and Wind Symphony

The WSU Concert Band, our largest university band, is open to all students, including non music majors. The band performs approximately three concerts a semester downtown in the Music Box at the beautiful Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center. If you were a member of your high school band and would like to continue performing live music for friends and family, then we invite you to join us regardless of your skill level. You are invited to observe a rehearsal anytime and check us out. Rehearsals are from 2:30 to 4:00 pm on Monday and Wednesday.

Wind Symphony (Open to All WSU Students, Audition Required)

The WSU Wind Symphony is our premier wind ensemble and membership is by audition only. Though consisting mainly of music majors, it is open to all qualified musicians regardless of their major. Under the direction of conductor, Douglas Bianchi, the Wind Symphony continues the storied history of the Wayne State band program, including performances at regional and national conferences. The WSU Wind Symphony performs a wide variety of repertoire from band classics to the latest in contemporary literature, including premiers by noted composers. Rehearsals are from 3:00 until 4:30 every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in room 2402 in Old Main. If interested we invite you to stop in an observe a rehearsal anytime.
