During the 2009-2010 school year, classes meet on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings from September 15 through May 1. Classes are held in the Old Main building on the Wayne State campus. Students learn in small groups, meeting every few weeks as a large mixed ensemble. Instructors also attend weekly seminar meetings with the master teacher and project director.

At least once each month, String Project participants attend on-campus "informances" by musicians from the Detroit Symphony or other guest artists.
The young students perform together twice a year. For 2009-2010 they will give concerts on Sunday Dec. 13 at 7 pm and Saturday, May 1 at 2:30 pm, sharing each program with ensembles from the Detroit Symphony's Power of Dreams program. We're thrilled to announce that the concerts will be held on the stage of Orchestra Hall. It's not every beginning string class that gets to perform in such a magnificent space!
