Schedule

Level I and II classes meet on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.  Students learn in small groups, meeting every few weeks as a large mixed ensemble. Level III students meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with one class lesson and one full ensemble rehearsal each week. Classes are held in the Old Main building on the Wayne State campus, from mid-September to mid-May.

In addition to their teaching assignments, String Project instructors attend weekly seminar meetings with the master teacher and project director.

Young String Project students perform together twice a year, in December and May. These concerts, which we share with ensembles from the Detroit Symphony's Power of Dreams program, are held on the stage of Orchestra Hall.  It's not every beginning string class that gets to perform in such a magnificent space!
