Biography
Mickayla Chapman joins the Department of Music as our newly appointed Academic Services Officer II. She will be responsible for all things related to Marketing, Communications, Recruitment, and Auditions. Prior to coming to Wayne State, Ms. Chapman had been working for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Education Department. In addition to being an administrator, Ms. Chapman is a Clarinetist who received a Masters in Clarinet and Chamber Music from the University of Michigan (2018). Ms. Chapman’s passions lie in chamber music, having won Silver Medal in the 2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition with the Vanguard Reed Quintet. She still plays and tours with Vanguard, as well as maintains a private clarinet studio and appears as an educator throughout Southeast Michigan.
