Brian Ivan teaches guitar methods and applied private classical guitar.
He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees on talent scholarship from Wayne State University concentrating in Classical Guitar Performance. In addition to his scholarship, Brian has received nu-merous awards and honors from Wayne State University including the Joe Fava Guitar Award, the Robert Stawski Endowed Scholarship and an induction into the Music Honor Society Pi Kappa Lambda. He has performed in master classes with Ana Vidovic, John Wunsch, and Ernesto Tamayo and Los Romeros.
Brian is invited to play frequently both publicly and privately around southeast Michigan un-der the brand BrianIvanGuitar which has served over 200 wedding ceremonies, receptions, private par-ties, corporate events and political fundraisers.
Brian, in addition to being a passionate and expressive performer, has a love for sharing the joy of music and guitar with the community through teaching and mentoring. He maintains a full private studio from which his students have won numerous awards at the local competitions, and serves on the board of the American Guild of Music. He is the director of the young adult and teen music ministries at St. Blase Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. He also teaches and directs guitar ensembles at the Waterford and Troy campuses of Oakland Homeschool Music Institute (OHMI).
