Young Vocal Artist Program

Join us for our Young Vocal Artist Program at Wayne State!   

The Department of Music @ Wayne State invites young aspiring singers to join us for the Young Vocal Artist Program at Wayne State University from August 5th to 9th. This event is open to talented young vocalists ages 14-25 who are passionate and pursuing classical voice performance.

When: Postponed to Summer 2020.

Program Registration and Program Requirements:

►Register online by completing the Young Vocal Artist Program Registration Form

►Students are required to upload a Recommendation Letter from a voice, choir or music teacher. No audition required.

Leading the program will be Artist Faculty who have many years of successful teaching and performing experience including:

George Shirley, World renowned Tenor and Voice Teacher 

Caitlin Lynch, World renowned Soprano and Wayne State Voice Faculty 

Jean Schneider, Pianist and Coach from Michigan Opera Theater 

Dr. Jonathan Lasch, Baritone and Wayne State Voice Faculty and Coordinator 

Frances Brockington, Soprano and Wayne State Voice Faculty and Chair 

Dr. Alex Sutton, Choral Conductor and Wayne State Music Faculty  

Events will include: 

  • Individual voice lessons and coachings 

  • Introduction to acting for singers 

  • Diction and repertoire 

  • Musicianship 

  • Tai Chi 

  • Ensemble singing 

To register for Wayne State's Young Vocal Artist Program: 

Registration is found online. Click the Young Vocal Artist Program Registration Form and click submit once you are finished filling it out. The cost to participate in the program is $400 payable online by credit card or by mailing in a check. The $400 includes access to all activities for the week. If paying by check, please mail in payments to:
